2013 – VSV
Founded as a government project team to build a Vietnam startup ecosystem
2014 – VSV Accelerator
Launched the 1st batch of 9 startups, making VSVA the first accelerator in Vietnam
2019 – VSV Capital
First investments made from venture fund, in addition to seed accelerator investments
In 2013, for the first time in Vietnam, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Vietnamese Government created an initiative directed at stimulating the growth of technology startups in Vietnam. The project was called Vietnam Silicon Valley (or "Project Commercialisation of Technology Following the Silicon Valley Model in Vietnam" in Vietnamese), and widely known as just VSV. By combining the Vietnamese entrepreneurial spirit and innovative nature with proven practices that Silicon Valley has to offer in startup acceleration and investment, it sought to create an ecosystem of innovation and technology commercialisation in Vietnam. The project marked the beginning of a dynamic and exciting era for startup and entrepreneurship in Vietnam.
In 2014, the team behind Project VSV founded Vietnam Silicon Valley Accelerator, or VSVA, making it the first startup accelerator in Vietnam, to continue their mission in developing the Vietnam startup ecosystem. Over the past years, we have helped hundreds of entrepreneurs build their companies and raise millions of dollars in their next rounds of funding.
In 2019, to further draw attention to startups at the most highly potential but also highly underserved segment in Vietnam, we raised our first venture fund in addition to our accelerator fund, and started operating under the name VSV Capital.
As a private firm, we continue to keep a close partnership with many government agencies, and stays the go-to organisation chosen by them to hold startup events and to help building favourable policies for startups. We have participated in many government projects that center around the development of the Vietnam startup ecosystem like MOST's Project 844, Techfest Vietnam, AI4VN; DOST's SpeedUp, WHISE etc. to name a few.
We continue making headway with more fundings and partnerships in Vietnam as well as abroad. Our funds have the participation of notable enterprises such as Lotte Group and Ascendo Ventures, as well as outstanding figures who are current and former executives of Vietnam International Bank, Samsung Group, SK Corps etc.
Apart from working with local institutions, we also collaborate regularly with international organisations. In particular, every year since 2018, we host the Global Acceleration Program for Startups in collaboration with Korea's Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
